Here’s What You Need to Know

The PGE Smart Charging program and associated benefits are available to Portland General Electric’s residential customers.

Upgrade and Save: Qualify for rebates of up to $300 (or $1,000 for income-qualified customers) on the purchase and installation of a Level 2 EV Charger. Additionally, receive up to $1,000 (or $5,000 for income-qualified customers) for any electrical panel upgrades.

Earn Bill Credits: Automatically enroll in the PGE Smart Charging program when you apply for your charger rebate. By participating in smart charging events, you can earn $25 bill credits twice a year.

Support a Clean Energy Future: Participating in smart charging allows PGE to optimize energy use during peak demand times. This contributes to a more reliable and sustainable grid for everyone in Oregon!

PGE Smart Charging Events

Portland General Electric Smart Charging events are the same few hours each weekday when PGE may pause your EV charging during peak demand times. This helps manage the overall energy and load on the grid and contributes to a cleaner energy future.
By allowing PGE to manage your EV charging during Smart Charging events, you earn rewards! To participate, you must meet a few requirements:

Smart Charging Events: Participate in at least three events per cycle (a typical cycle is two to three months).

Charging: Charge your EV at least 13 times per cycle.

Connectivity: Keep your charger connected to the internet at least 50% of the time.

It’s important to note that you always have the option to opt out of any specific event if it doesn’t work with your schedule.
